Englewood Beach Waterfest to Hold Annual Event in November to Support Community

(Englewood, FL) The 2022 Board of Directors and members for Englewood Beach Waterfest have made the decision to move forward to hold the 2022 Waterfest Event from November 18th-20th, as scheduled. “The overwhelming support of the OPA (Offshore Powerboat Association), local business owners, our event ambassadors, community leaders, along with county and local officials, has uplifted and prompted us to move forward to hold this year’s racing event.” said Steve Gardiner, President of the Board of Directors. “The people of our community have really pulled together and shown immense resilience and determination to bring Englewood and the surrounding areas back, and we are committed to ensuring any local resident who wants to attend this year’s event has the opportunity to do so.“ further stated Gardiner.

The goal of the event this year, more than ever, is to bring some much needed recreation to a weary community, and help support local businesses.  Englewood Beach Waterfest is committed to providing free General Admission to anyone in our local area affected by Hurricane Ian. To do that, the organizers will need all the help they can get to execute this effectively. To that end, the Waterfest Board of Directors and Members, along with their marketing team, are finalizing the details on their community-wide campaign “Racing to Recovery” , which is focused on covering operational expenses and providing local resident support in the wake of this devastating storm. “We activated our marketing and web team to set up a custom Donation Campaign page, which will be shared on our social media channels and added to our website. Any individual or business interested in supporting this community event will be able to donate funds to cover operational expenses so that free admission to the races for local residents is possible” stated Elaine Miller, past President and current Waterfest Board Member. “We are providing a portal to folks outside of the areas affected by hurricane Ian to help us let the locals have a day or two reprieve from the cleanup and repair that the devastation has caused.”

The OPA Racing (Offshore Powerboat Association) organizers and boat teams are excited that the event will go on as scheduled, particularly with the cancellation of the Roar Offshore Race due to the extreme devastation brought forth by Ian on Fort Myers Beach. “We have seen and heard the overwhelming support from our race teams who love racing on the waters here in Englewood. The location and setup is ideal, and the welcoming environment of the residents and businesses really sets us apart from other venues.” said Ray LaBadie, 1st Vice-President.

The event’s online ticketing portal is also live with both General admission tickets as well as their very popular, but limited exclusive VIP Ticketed options available to purchase.
